Following recent heavy rain, the Lodore gauge has reached flood alert. Flooding is possible at locations near the Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwent Water, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around The Upper Derwent from Seathwaite to Derwent Water.

The forecast is to improve with some showers over the weekend.

Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses.

At present, we are not expecting to issue the Flood Warning for this area, and we will continue to monitor river and rainfall levels.

This message will be updated by 10:00 on 22/12/2024, or as the situation changes.
