River levels have risen at the Llanymynech river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected to continue. We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the river from the Welsh border at Llawnt to Shrawardine near Shrewsbury. Other locations that may be affected include Llanymynech, Maesbrook and Melverley. Minor roads between Maesbrook, Melverley and Pentre start to flood. Predicted peaks:- Llanymynech 3.6m to 3.8m 17/09/25 this evening, 17/09/25.

Further rainfall is forecast over the next 48 hours.

We are closely monitoring the situation.

Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded and avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses.

This message will be updated by 09:00 on 18/09/25, or as the situation changes.
