Groundwater levels in Bramdean and Cheriton are high, but slowly falling. At our borehole in Cheriton Wood, the level has fallen by 21cm in the last week. We expect that a small number of properties in Cheriton will be affected by cellar flooding. Septic tanks will be struggling to operate effectively. Rain is forecast to affect Hampshire from today (25/04/2024) to Monday 29/04/2024, with some heavy spells possible over the weekend. It is possible that between 20 and 50mm of rain could be recorded during this time. Groundwater levels are expected to initially continue falling but may begin to stabilise, or rise slightly, if heavy rain affects the area. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. If you have pumps to help reduce water levels, please ensure that they are operating. This Flood Alert will be updated by 18:00 on Thursday 02/05/2024.
