Groundwater is high, close to the surface at the Compton borehole, but falling thirty centimetres each day. Minor groundwater flood impacts are expected to continue, with springs affecting fields, and water on roads including Stoughton main road and the road from East Marden. Groundwater could affect a small number of properties close to the village green Stoughton. Groundwater could affect basements of properties in Walderton too. Showers are possible Thursday and Friday evenings. A lot of rain could affect Sussex Saturday evening, through to midday Sunday 28/04/2024. If this rain occurs, groundwater could slow in its fall at the Compton borehole, and during Sunday more water will flow on roads. More unsettled weather and showers are forecast next week. Groundwater will not fall fast and will remain higher than normal, and minor flood impacts could persist until mid May. If you have pumps to help reduce groundwater levels in your property, ensure they are operational. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. We will update this message by 18:00 30/04/2024
