Flood Warning: Tidal River Ouse from Naburn Lock to Selby

River levels are now falling slowly but remain high in response to recent rainfall. Flooding is possible today, Wednesday 29/01/2025. The influence of the tide is increasing as we move towards spring tides later this weekend, however river levels are expected to fall and remain below levels of concern for the coming tide cycles. Areas most at risk include the tidal foreshore and agricultural land adjacent to the river in the Cawood, Kelfield, Wistow and Selby areas. We are closely monitoring the situation and will issue Flood Warnings if necessary. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses, and do not attempt to walk, drive or cycle through flood water. Take care and consider activating your flood plan if you have one. This message will be updated by 9:00am on Thursday 30/01/2025 or as the situation changes.
