Flood Warning: River Sence in Leicestershire

"River levels are rising at the South Wigston river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible from 09:00 today 28/04/24. Areas most at risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads including the farmland in Great Glen, Kilby Bridge, South Wigston and Blaby as well as the road at Crow Mills.

Further heavy rainfall is forecast over the next 6 hours. We expect river levels to rise until 09:00 on 29/04/24.

We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking debris screens and watercourses for blockages.

Please avoid using low-lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low-lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
